Olubadan: Oba Olakulehin’s Arrival Douses Anxiety In Ibadan As Elevated Obas Pay Visit

The Otun Olubadan of Ibadanland and former governor of Oyo state, High Chief Rasidi Ladoja has confirmed the arrival of Olubadan designate, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin to Ibadan, which happens to be his first public appearance after the demise and burial of late Olubadan, Oba Lekan Balogun.

Nigerian Tribune had earlier reported that Oba Olakulehin would arrive Ibadan today, Friday 5th April, 2024 and he is expected to meet kingmakers anytime soon.

In the meantime, the Olubadan-designate, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin has started receiving guests who have come to pay homage at his Alalubosa, Ibadan residence which according to report, included some of the elevated Obas who were early callers at his house.

Speaking shortly after meeting the Olubadan designate, the Osi Balogun, Lateef Adebimpe said they meant no harm when they insisted on seeing the monarch.

“It isn’t that we didn’t know that Baba has been absent from our meeting due to old age related sickness. But it’s been long we heard from him. That was why we insisted we must see him. We cannot install someone without seeing him.

“We are happy to see him hale and hearty. Our Baba is alive. We should be rejoicing as we have seen the Olubadan-in-waiting. Very soon, arrangement about the formal announcement will be done. We, the members of Olubadan-in-council have planned it. We are all happy with it. Ibadan will continue to witness many development,” Adebimpe who was joined by Abiodun Kola-Daisi, said.

Recall that the non-public appearance of Oba Olakulehin before this time has generated heated arguments among the stakeholders including the kingmakers

The kingmakers had insisted that the 89 year old Olubadan designate’s nomination cannot be done in absentia.
