Olopoeyan Berates Kwankwaso, Warns Against Interfering In Gov. Abba’s Administration
The Southwest leader of New Nigeria People’s Party, NNPP, Alhaji Abdul-Rasheed Adebisi Olopoeyan, has advised former Kano state governor, senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso not to use his personal interest to disturb the administration of governor Abba Kabir Yusuf in Kano state.
Olopoeyan, the Oyo state-based politician made the statement in reaction to the ongoing issue between Gov. Abba Yusuf of Kano State and NNPP under the leadership of Sen. Rabiu Kwankwaso, with the former allegedly refusing to sack two top government functionaries as directed by the latter.
It will be recall that the party in Kano state suspended the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Abdullahi Baffa Bichi, and Commissioner of Transportation, Muhammad Diggol, over alleged abuse of power and disloyalty to the party, with the expectation that the governor will sack both appointees after their suspension from the party but sources close to the governor said Yusuf would rather have a one-to-one discussion with Kwankwaso over the issue than act on his ‘orders.’
Olopoeyan, in his statement, said that Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso has continued to display his authoritarian attitude at every opportunity in the party.
Speaking further, Olopoeyan explained that when Senator Kwankwaso’s attempt to take over the NNPP structure was thwarted, he thereafter settled to vent his anger on Kano NNPP and the government appointees who can’t also take his excesses.
“Everyone could now see the excesses of Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso; he keeps getting it wrong with his self-centeredness. He started distracting NNPP and its structure in some major states with the suspension and expelling of devoted party members, but when we make an end for him; he ran back to his base to continue his unjustifiable suspension and expulsion of dutiful party members.
” When we were complaining about his bad leadership and selfish attitude in the party, people hardly believed, but now, NNPP, including chief Boniface Aniebonam, the founder of the party and Chairman of the Board of Trustees (BoT), has started to be vindicated.
It is improper for Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso to be willing to run Kano by proxy, who doesn’t that? Even when he was the governor, nobody dragged the seat with him; no one asked him to sack and appoint officers in his government, why is he doing that now?
” NNPP is already tired of his unfair and cruel leadership; I am sure his in-law, the governor of the state, is also fed up, just that he can’t say or act it publicly, now everybody will understand why the former governor, his friend and his former deputy against cut ties with him.
” How can someone who she he wants to rule Nigeria find it difficult to manage people and maintain a growing political party like NNPP? Olopoeyan concluded.
