The Nigeria Union of Teachers, NUT, has directed teachers in public schools across Oriire local government area to stay away from the schools starting Tuesday May 26, till further notice.

NUT issued this directive in view of the recent abduction of 39 students and seven teachers in some schools in the local government area.

NUT, in its reaction, directed teachers in the local government area to withdraw their services indefinitely.

The directive was contained in a statement by the NUT State Secretary, Salami Olukayode, who described the abduction as unfortunate, saying the incident has left a huge scar on the teachers.
