The seven day warning strike by National Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives NANNM, and joined by University College Hospital chapter has entered day two, following the expiration of 15 Day Ultimatum issued to government to press home their demands. .
Chairperson, NANNM UCH Branch, Mrs Olufumilola Faminu in interview in Ibadan said the suspension of the derogatory allowances released on 27th of June, this year did not meet the expectations of healthcare workers.

Mrs Faminu who noted that the suspension of the circular is just one item amongst the nine demands the of the association presented to the government said if the demands of the Association are not adequately addressed it would issue a 21 day ultimatum and proceed to indefinite strike.

She listed out their demands to include Gazetting of the Nurses scheme of service approved by the National Council on Establishment in 2016 in Mina Niger State, implementation of the National Industrial Court judgment of January 27th 2012, upward review of professional allowances for Nurses and Midwives
Others are employment of nursing personnel and adequate provision of healthcare facility equipments among other demands
Mrs Faminu said at UCH their members had withdrawn their services from midnight Tuesday in attending to patients.
She expressed hope that government would accede to their demands, stressing that lives of the patients would continue to remain paramount to them
Meanwhile, the National Chairman of the National Association of Nurses and Midwives – Federal Health Institutions Sector, Morakinyo-Olajide Rilwan, has insisted that the union will not suspend its ongoing strike until key aspects of their demands are addressed.
