As part of efforts towards cushioning the effects of subsidy removal, the National body of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC is set to deliver 10 Compressed Natural Gas, CNG buses to NLC in Oyo state for onward distribution to other state NLC in the southwest zone.
A statement signed by the General Secretary of NLC, Mr Emmanuel Ugboaja notes that the National body of NLC and the central working committee (CWC) of 58 affiliates of the union will be in attendance for an official handing over of the CNG buses.
The handing over of the buses according to Mr Ugboaja is slated for Friday 10th of January, 2025.
Reacting to the development at a news briefing, the state NLC chairman, Mr Kayode Martins said” Ibadan was selected for the general meeting as the ancient city is the headquarters of the southwest zone of the Union”.
” We are expecting the all political office holders, government functionaries and residents of the oyo state to be at the occasion, we believed that CNG buses would enhance transportation in the state”
” Also all the Central Working Committee comprises of all the Presidents and secretaries of all the fifty eight affiliates of NLC will be there ”
Mr Martins explained that the 10 CNG buses would provide succour to the Labour union and its affiliate bodies.
He added that the state governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde would be the chief host being the number one worker in the state
