Middle Aged Man Commits Suicide In Osogbo

Residents of Salako, Stadium area of Osogbo are still mourning the death of a young man, Bello Rasheed Olalekan who allegedly committed suicide inside his room on Saturday.

The unfortunate incident forced the residents of the area to start running helter skelter as they could not figure out what could have led the deceased to decide to take his own life.

Olalekan, who lived in a one room apartment, was discovered inside his room dangling on a noose on Saturday by his neighbours.

He was said to have opened a Bible, which neighbours suspected he might have studied before allegedly hanging himself on his ceiling fan with a rope.

The deceased, whose tongue came out of his mouth and was having a blackish colour under the noose, was said to have broken his Automated Teller Machine card before giving up on life.

Residents of Salako Street, Stadium Area in Osogbo where the tragic incident happened, were said to be awe-struck after sighting Olalekan’s lifeless body.

They invited a Christian cleric who prayed before the victim was brought down and taken out of the room.

“A friend of Olalekan had checked on him before he discovered his lifeless body. When we entered his room, I saw him hanging on the noose.

“He had cut his mattress into two and also broke his ATM card. We saw that he opened his Bible which we suspect that he might have read before killing himself.

“I think he drank some substance suspected to be poison because his tongue changed to black colour,” a neighbour who pleaded not to be named told our Correspondent.

Confirming the incident, the Public Relations Officer of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Osun State Command, Kehinde Adeleke, said the deceased was described as “an easygoing person.”
