Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde has paid an official condolence visit to the family of the late Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, who passed away on July 7, 2025.
Governor Makinde who paid the visit at the late monarch’s residence in Alalubosa, Ibadan,expressed his heartfelt sympathies to the Olakulehin family and the Olubadan-in-Council, reflecting on his administration’s efforts to stabilize and strengthen the Ibadan traditional institution.

The governor acknowledged the support of the Olubadan-in-Council, noting that their cooperation played a key role in averting what could have become a prolonged leadership crisis within the Ibadan traditional system.

Governor Makinde further announced that his administration had approved funds to support the funeral rites of the late monarch, assured the family and the Olubadan-in-Council of his full participation in the burial ceremonies.
Earlier , the Balogun of Ibadanland, High Chief Tajudeen Ajibola, thanked Governor Makinde for his consistent support to the traditional institution and for his developmental strides across the city.
He urged the children of the late Oba Olakulehin to involve both the Olubadan-in-Council and the state government in the funeral planning to ensure a befitting burial.
Speaking on behalf of the family, Sunbo Olakulehin, son of the late monarch, expressed deep appreciation to the governor for standing by his father throughout his reign, especially during the period leading to his ascension to the throne.
The condolence visit was attended by members of the state executive council, board chairpersons, and local government chairmen across Ibadan.
