Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde has signed a bill to rename the Oke Ogun Polytechnic, Saki to Michael Koleosho Polytechnic, Saki into law.
The signing took place during the constitution of governing council members of five tertiary institutions, including the Polytechnic Ibadan at the Executive Chamber, Secretariat, Agodi, Ibadan on Friday.

Governor Makinde noted that Polytechnic Ibadan’s Alumni and students’ reaction against renaming of its institution to Omololu Olunloyo Polytechnic Ibadan is surprising considering the fact that the late Icon was the pioneer rector of the institution.

Makinde who said he was ready to engage the concerned stakeholders as he did for existing institutions including Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomosho, and Emmanuel Alayande College of Education, Oyo, even the newly renamed Michael Koleosho Polytechnic, Saki, warned students against undue agitation and protest
Meanwhile, Governor Makinde has urged the new governing council members and administrators of concerned tertiary institutions to ensure transparency, and improvement of their respective institutions, while pledging due subventions for smooth running.
The newly inaugurated governing council members were to the Polytechnic, Ibadan, Michale Koleosho Polytechnic, Saki, College of Agriculture, Igboora, College of Education, Lanlate and Oyo State College of Science and Technology, Eleyele.
