The proactive efforts of members of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria VGN in Afijio local government area have saved a man from being abducted at gun point from his village home near Awe , Oyo state.

It was gathered that upon hearing gun shots from the scene of the attempted abduction in the early hours of Monday morning, a vigilante living nearby promptly mobilized other members of the group confront the assailants.

According to the VGN Oyo state operations officer, Mr. Oyekola Olaoye, the suspected bandits earlier failed in their attempt to kill a man called Domoso within the same locality but succeeded in carting away his new Honda motorcycle.

After preliminary interrogation by the VGN which identified the suspects as Muhammadu Tairu and Seriki, they have been handed over to the DSS in Ibadan for more investigation.
Meanwhile, the commander VGN, Oyo state command, Comrade Sunday Olajide who gave assurance that the third suspect will soon be apprehended with synergy from other security agencies urged residents to keep playing their part in the fight against insecurity.
Afijio local government area, particularly Akinmorin, Awe, Jobele and Ilora has recorded series of kidnapping activities which triggered a public protest in the area last month.
