Lawmaker, Waheed “Ilumoka” Visits Oyo CP, Expresses Readiness To Build Police Station In Oluyole

The Nigerian police Oyo State command have been commended for their efforts at ensuring safety of lives and property in the State.

Oyo Assembly Lawmaker representing Oluyole State constituency, Hon. Waheed Akintayo and the Executive Chairman of Oluyole Local Government area, Hon. Olaide Popopla Settle made the commendation when they paid a courtesy visit to the Commissioner of Police, Oyo State command, CP Hamzat Adebola in his office on Friday

Speaking at the headquarters of the police command, Eleyele, Ibadan Hon. Waheed Akintayo said their visit was to commend the police for their efforts to rid the State of criminal elements especially tackling the menace of kidnapping in Oluyole local government axis that has now become a thing of the past and to inform the Commissioner of his decision to construct a standard police station project in his constituency.

According to him, we have come to commend you for your effort at combating the criminal activities in the State especially your effort at tackling the menace of kidnapping that was very rampant within the Oluyole local government area.

“As a lawmaker, I want to form a synergy with you through providing security back up for you in the process of carrying out your legitimate duties.

“This is the reason why I have decided to come and inform you of my decision to commence the construction of a standard police station in my constituency.”

Hon. Akintayo who also doubles as the Chairman House Committee on Information, Media, Public Affairs and ICT stressed that the police station when completed will further assist the police in securing lives and property in his constituency area.

Ilumoka as fondly called, said the responsibility of securing lives and property of the community should not be left alone in the hands of the police and that is the reason he has included the construction of a police station as one of the numerous projects he has for his constituents.

Also speaking, the Chairman of Oluyole Local Government, Hon. Olaide Popoola Settle hinted that his administration has also embarked upon construction of two police stations at Afagbon and Oniganbari villages respectively to further complement the effort of the police within the council area.

He said that the commissioner of police will be invited to commission the said police stations when completed.

In his remark, the Commissioner of Police who lauded the lawmaker and the council Chairman for the visit, said community policing is imperative to partner between the police and the community to as to bring about desired peace for sustainable growth and development of any community.

The commissioner used the opportunity to further appealed to the people to resist the urge to commit crime and report anything suspicious activities to the police.

He promised to give necessary supports towards the construction of the said police station project when commenced.
