LAUTECH Expresses Sadness Over Mysterious Death Of 300L Student • Pledges Cooperation On Police Investigation
The Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, has said it is working closely with the police to uncover the circumstances surrounding the death of one of its students, Ridwan Oladipupo, a 300-level student of Agricultural Engineering, who died under mysterious circumstances off-campus.
A statement by the institution’s Registrar, Mrs Olayinka Balogun indicates that the university expressed sadness over the tragic loss and pledged full cooperation with law enforcement to ensure that the truth is uncovered.
According to the statement, the deceased reportedly left his off-campus hostel on Lawyer Ahmed Street, Ogbomoso, on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, informing his roommates that he was going to study, without disclosing his destination.
On the following day, June 25, the Acting Dean of Student Affairs was contacted by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Owode Division regarding the discovery of a corpse in front of Nurudeen Grammar School, along Under-G road in Ogbomoso.
At the time, the identity of the deceased could not be confirmed by local residents or students, and the police subsequently moved the body to the LAUTECH Teaching Hospital mortuary.
The statement notes that LAUTECH is a non-residential university, however, it maintain a collaborative security network with relevant agencies to patrol and monitor student-dominated off-campus areas every night.
It adds that the university will refrain from making further comments so as not to jeopardise ongoing police investigations but assured the public that LAUTECH is committed to uncovering the truth.
