The case brought by the SDP and its candidate, Segun Oni, challenging the victory of Biodun Oyebanji as the governor of Ekiti state on June 16th has been rejected by the Ekiti State Election Petitions Tribunal, which is based in Ado, EKITI.
The court ruled on all the arguments made by the petitioner in a decision that took more than two hours forty-five minutes, and it subsequently upheld the election of the current governor, Biodun Oyebanji.
Newsarena.ng reports that the court ruled that SDP and its candidate failed to provide sufficient proof that the current Governor and his Deputy were not eminently qualified to contest the June 18 election, according to the judgement, which was given by Tribunal member, Justice Zaad Zadawa.
The court further affirmed that it was purile for the petitioner to base Thier case on the signing a nomination letter since it was the party at the state level that decide candidate to represent it in an election.
