Three of the Ayebulu family members who were kidnapped on Saturday along the Oke Ako-Ajowa route in the Ajoni Local Council Development Area of Ekiti state have purportedly been rescued after being paid a ransom of five million naira.
Mr. Oyewole Ayebulu, a government worker, and two of his elder brother’s children were abducted in the incident, while another member of his family, Officer Segun Ayebulu of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps was killed.
According to a report, the victims were freed on Wednesday night at Ayede Ekiti in the local government of Oye.
Mrs. Ronke Ayebulu, the victim’s wife, told newsmen over the phone that her husband and the couple’s two kids had been released.
Mrs. Ayebulu, who was clearly joyful, thanked God for the victims’ prompt release.
“In fact, the liberation of my husband and the two children of his older brother has made me the happiest lady on earth. I praise God for this.” stated Ayebulu’s spouse.
When contacted, Mr. Sunday Abutu, the spokesman for the Ekiti State Police Command, confirmed that the victims had been released.
Also, the Chairman of Ajoni Local Council Development Area, Prince Micheal Ogungbemi told journalists in Ado Ekiti that the victims have been taken to hospital for medical attention after sustaining various degrees of injuries from the kidnappers.
Prince Ogungbemi promised to take care of the medical bills of the victims at the state General Hospital Ikole Ekiti.
