The Oyo State high court sitting in Ibadan has adjourned a case of impeachment process against the deputy governor of Oyo state Engineer Rauf Olaniyan to July 5th this year.
The deputy governor of Oyo state had approached the court of law, praying the court to stop his impeachment process by the Oyo state house of assembly.
He sought an injunction to stop what he described as “faulty process” of his impeachment.
Presided over by Justice Oladiran Akintola, the state high court stopped the house of assembly from removing Rauf Olaniyan as deputy governor of the state.
According to the Court, the status-quo must be maintained pending the hearing of the application for interlocutory injunctions before it
Recall that the state assembly under the speakership of Rt Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin had recently levelled some allegations against the deputy governor after he defected from the PDP to the opposition, APC.
Olaniyan was however given a seven days ultimatum to reply the allegations which he had done but yet to be read on the floor of the house.
