Super Eagles of Nigeria began their bid to earn a spot at the 2023 Africa cup of Nations tournament with a 2-1 victory over Sierra Leone.
The match, which was played at the MKO stadium, Abuja, was Nigeria’s opening match of their 2023 Afcon qualifiers.
Sierra Leone took a shock early lead in the 10th minutes but their lead did not last long before Everton’s forward, Alex Iwobi equalized for the Super Eagles.
Iwobi, then turn provider when he headed the ball to Napoli’s star man, Victor Osihmen, converted his strike to make it 2-1.
The victory was Jose Peseiro first win since he took charge of the Super Eagles as head coach.
