In an effort to further address issues of insecurity in Ondo state, the state government has commenced a new phase of registration of commercial motorcycles and its riders in all the eighteen council areas.
According to report, the first commercial motorcycles registration was done in 2018.
Senior Special Assistant to Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu on strategy and special duties, Dr. Doyin Odebowale said there was need for a fresh database based on the need to address influx of motorcyclists into the state.
Mr Odebowale said the exercise was also aimed at checking the rate of crime allegedly perpetrated on a daily basis by okada riders.
He explained that the biometric registration would cover use of jackets , tickets and color code for each senatorial district for proper identification at the cost of two thousand five hundred naira
Dr Odebowale added that all motorcycles without number plates would be impounded
