Insecurity: Adeojo Takes Proactive Step, Meets Traditional Rulers In Ido LG 

The Executive Chairman of Ido Local Government, Hon. Sheriff Aderemi Adeojo, has convened a crucial security meeting with traditional rulers across Ido Local Government to reinforce measures aimed at safeguarding lives and property.


During the meeting, the Chairman expressed concern over the recent security challenges in neighboring Orire Local Government.

He stressed the need for vigilance and collective action to prevent security breaches.

In his address, Hon. Sheriff Adeojo commended all security agencies operating within the local government for their swift responses and proactive efforts in addressing security incidents.

He also announced that approval is being processed for the recruitment of additional local vigilantes to strengthen community-based security operations.

The meeting provided an opportunity for traditional rulers to share their concerns, observations, and recommendations regarding the security challenges affecting their respective communities.

Addressing participants, His Royal Highness, Oba Akeem Mobolaji Adewoyin emphasized that security is no longer the sole responsibility of security agencies but a collective duty of every member of the community.

He lamented that fear often prevents residents from reporting suspicious activities.

The royal father urged all traditional rulers to mobilize, equip, and adequately fund vigilante groups within their domains to enhance community security and intelligence gathering.

The security officials advised traditional rulers to closely monitor and properly document newcomers settling within their communities, emphasizing the importance of community intelligence in crime prevention.

They further noted the role of some landlords, caretakers, and property agents whose pursuit of rental income often leads to inadequate screening of tenants and stressed that community leaders, especially traditional rulers and Baales, must promptly share useful information with security agencies.

They also urged religious leaders to discourage unauthorized overnight stays in mosques/churches and to remain vigilant regarding suspicious activities within their communities.
