Ido LG Chairman, Sheriff Adeojo Distributes Solar Powered Street Lights in 10 Wards

The Executive Chairman of Ido Local Government, Hon. Sheriff Aderemi Adeojo, has distributed solar-powered street lights to the 10 political wards in the council area as part of efforts to improve security and expand infrastructure across communities.

The distribution ceremony, held at the Ido Local Government Secretariat, attracted councillors, supervisors, party leaders, Community Development Committee (CDC) and Community Development Association (CDA) chairmen, youth leaders, and other stakeholders from the 10 wards.

Speaking at the event, Adeojo said the initiative was in fulfillment of his administration’s commitment to making Ido Local Government safer, brighter and more economically vibrant through improved public lighting.

He explained that the installation of solar-powered street lights would enhance security, promote commercial activities at night and improve the overall quality of life in communities.

“Light is life and light is security. These solar lights will help reduce crime, make our roads and markets safer, and allow our traders and artisans to extend their business hours. We are taking development to every ward without discrimination,” the chairman said.

Adeojo charged councillors and executives of the Community Development Committees in the respective wards to ensure the proper installation and maintenance of the solar lights. He urged them to prioritise strategic locations, including markets, schools, primary healthcare centres and major road junctions, to maximise the benefits of the project.

Community leaders and other beneficiaries commended the council chairman for the people-oriented initiative, describing it as a timely intervention that would address the challenge of inadequate public lighting while reducing the financial burden of electricity costs on communities.
