Ibarapa Indigenes Send-Off Ex OYSCATECH Bursar, Agbogun

The former Bursar for Oyo State College of Agriculture and Technology, Igboora, Dr. Safara Agbogun has called on the Rector of the institution, Prof. Akinola Akinlabi to run with vision and remain focused while directing the affairs of Oyo State College of Agriculture and Technology, (OYSCATECH), Igboora.

Dr. Agbogun gave this charge during the send forth programme organized in his honour by the Association of Ibarapa Staff Indigenes working in Oyo State College of Agriculture and Technology, Igboora.

Dr. Safara Agbogun who was full of gratitude to God for the opportunity to complete his tenure, commended friends both in diaspora and Nigeria, Associates, political leaders, community leaders, Lanlate Movement (LACON), the Scout Association of Nigeria, Oyo State Scout council, Association of Ibarapa Staff Indigene, OYSCATECH Staff and Students for joining others to celebrate his retirement programme organized by the Association of Ibarapa Staff Indigenes working in OYSACTECH.

The three in one programme which was graced by the Hon. Commissioner for Education Science and Technology, Prof. Salihu Abdulwaheed Adelabu, all the traditional rulers in Ibarapa Land including HRM Jimoh Olajide Titiloye, the Olu of Igboora, HRM Kingsley Onikola Oyelami, the Onidere of Idere land, HRM Sunday Bolawaye Oladejo, the Onilala of Lanlate, Chief Agboola Adeyemo, the Chairman, Elders Council, Lanlate, Chief Timothew Alape Jolaoso, who served at different times as former Commissioner for Health, Internal Affairs and Establishment and Training, Senator Sarafadeen Abiodun Alli who was ably represented by his political associates, Engr. Azeez Adeoye Executive Director, Ogun/Osun River Basin, Chief (Mrs) Abosede Daramola, the Iyalode of Eruwa Land, and Rev. Moses Laniran,, Oyo State Scout Commissioner.

Others are Col. Onaolapo Oladiran, Dr. Tunde Adeaga, Mr. Adetunji Adepeju, former Local Government Chairmen in Ibarapa Central Local Government, the entire Management Team of OYSCATECH, Deans, Directors, among others.

Dr. Agbogun appreciated all his attendees including traditional rulers, the Akinlabi Foundation, Senator Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli, LACON, Lanlate, his friends, and political and community leaders for their generous donations towards the commencement of another building project.

Recounting some of his notable achievements while in office as the Bursar of the institution, Dr. Agbogun appreciated God for the opportunity to navigate the challenging time when the College was faced with the challenges of paying staff salaries due to lack of funds as well as the support on the successful completion of Home and Rural Economics Building and the maximum support offered the Alumni Association to embark on X-ray/Laboratory building project.

Dr. Agbogun who retorted that time would not allow him to list all his achievements while in office, charged the Rector – Prof. Akinola Akinlabi being the most senior among the Association of Ibarapa Staff Indigenes, to actively play both fatherly and leadership roles, he demonstrated by handing over the baton of leadership which was handed over to him by the retired Deputy Rector, Dr. Ariyo Okunlola to the Rector of the institution.

Dr. Agbogun commended the Ibarapa Staff Association for their sacrificial donations towards the construction and donation of Fifteen Million, Seven Hundred and Seventy-Six Thousand and Thirty Naira (#15,776,030) worth of Staff Building Complex to Oyo State College of Agriculture and Technology, Igboora.

Dr. Agbogun assured the Rector of his continual support even though he has retired.

He said he would not hesitate to work in the interest of the institution whenever he has the opportunity to do so. He emphasized that the growth of an institution requires the collective efforts of all as the government alone cannot do it.

The Rector, Prof. Akinola Akinlabi in his response said he received the baton of leadership as a challenge that will keep him on his toes while promising not to relent in moving OYSCATECH forward. He appreciated Dr. Agbogun for his love for the institution.

The Chairman, the Association of Ibarapa Staff Indigenes in OYSCATECH, Mr. Peter Oladokun also appreciated and acknowledged the former Bursar of the institution, Dr. Safara Agbogun who initiated the idea and encouraged them to embark on a building project for the institution, while noting that the send forth programme organized for Dr. Agbogun was their little way of appreciating his immeasurable contributions towards the growth of Ibarapa Staff indigenes and OYSCATECH at large.
