Ibadan Stampede: Oyo Child Protection Network, CPN Decries Negligence Leading To Preventable Tragedy.
The Child Protection Network, CPN, Oyo State has condemned what it described as negligence, the event that led to the tragic loss of young lives during the children’s Giveaway Party held on December 18th at the Islamic High School, Bashorun.
In a statement made available to newsarena.ng, CPN explains that the heartbreaking incident revealed a shocking lack of regard for the safety and well-being of Nigeria’s most vulnerable members of society whom are the children.
It notes that The organizers’ failure to implement basic safety measures and conduct adequate due diligence is deeply troubling, noting that the oversight has resulted in an avoidable tragedy that highlights the urgent need for stronger safety protocols involving children in all events.
It says such negligence is unacceptable and represents a failure of responsibility that must not go unaddressed.
The statement reads in part:
“In light of this devastating event, CPN Oyo State calls on all relevant authorities to conduct an exhaustive investigation to uncover the circumstances surrounding this tragedy. Hold accountable all individuals and organizations whose actions or inaction contributed to this loss. And implement and enforce stricter safety regulations for events involving children to prevent such occurrences in the future.”
