Ibadan Explosion: Oyo Governor To Meet Stakeholders • Forensic Report To Be Ready On… – Gov. Makinde
Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State says Forensic report on the Ibadan explosion would be ready next week Monday, 5th February, 2024.
Governor Makinde disclosed this when he paid a visit to the site of the explosion to further assess the situation of things on ground.
He said government would hold an expanded meeting with stakeholders the following day to know the next line of action.
The state government had earlier disclosed that the five fatalities were record as a result of the incident while 77 people were injured.
Meanwhile, In Oyo state, it has now become a Criminal offence for individual or organizations that fails to report the storage of dangerous substance within 72 hours to face wrath of the law pursuant to Section 5(2) of the 1999 constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended).
This followed the signing of the executive order 001 on handling and storage of the explosives in the state by Governor Seyi Makinde.
Speaking with journalists on the development, Governor Seyi Makinde said the order became imperative to prevent the recurrence of the Bodija explosion which occured recently.
While maintaining that the order is for the overall security of Oyo state residents said the Special Adviser to the Governor on Security would work with the relevant security agencies particularly the Nigerian Army Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) Ibadan to assess the risk posed by each reported storage of harmful explosives for necessary actions.
