Ibadan Businessman Cries Out Over Threat To Life, Takeover Of Property

Mr Joel Chukemeka Ubah,a Businessman and former Managing Director of Joel Chuks Venture Limited, has cried out for help over takeover of his property by the Oyo State High Court.

Ubah in an interview with Journalists on Thursday said his life was under threat and had received 49 death threats from unknown callers over his struggle to take back his property take over by the court in year 2018.

He said that his property located around Orita Challenge area of Ibadan was takeover as a result of judgment gotten against him by Access bank over a N10 million he collected from the bank.

Ubah said that he was the one that sued the bank for excess charges on the loan and had paid over N40 million for a loan of N10 million.

He said that he had Appeal the judgement and record of appeal transmitted to the Court of Appeal on January 6,2017 but the high court still went ahead to execute the judgment by taken over his property worth over N700 million and even sold it to one Sam Ade at the rate of N13 million.

Ubah further said that property worth millions of naira was destroyed and tenants in the building also chased away

Ubah said that the execution was signed by Mrs Olusola Adetujoye, former High Court Deputy Registrar and now a Judge.

He said the execution was carried out around 5 a.m of March 29,2018 in the presence of some police officers.

Ubah said that his investigation carried out showned that those that came for the execution are not from the Oyo State High Court and no record of execution found in court while the police also denied sending any officer for the execution.

He said that he has written several petitions to the legal department of the Oyo State Police Command headed by Mrs Funke Fawole, Oyo State Chief Judge, Munta Abimbola and Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), EFCC among others and no response from them.

“I have received 49 death threat since 2018 till date because of my struggle to get justice and that is why I ran away from Ibadan since 2018.

” 80 per cent of judgment execution in Ibadan are arranged, so I am crying out now in order to free Ibadan people and save the poor masses.

“Why should they come for the execution of the judgment when I have a pending appeal, I did the needful by appealing the judgment.

“I am ready to sacrifice my life to make sure that I save the poor masses from frustration and attack,” he said.
