As part of plans by the immediate family of Late Alhaji Lateef Akin-Tokunbo Olajide to immortalize the memory of their late patriarch, the foundation of a befitting Jumat mosque has been laid in honour of the late illustrious son of Ibadanland.
The mosque, named “Abdul-lateef Olajide Mosque”, is strategically located at the Anfaani layout area of Ring Road, Ibadan.
Alhaji Lateef Akin-Tokunbo Olajide, a respected community leader and patriarch of the Olajide family of Ibadan, passed away in April, 2024.
To immortalize his legacies, his son, Hon. Adedeji Dhikrullahi Olajide, conceived the idea of the beautiful mosque, which will serve as a place of worship and spiritual growth for the Muslim community.
The Abdul-lateef Olajide Mosque is a state-of-the-art worship centre, equipped with modern amenities and features that will make it a hub for Islamic activities in Ibadanland.
The mosque which is designed and currently under construction is being personally supervised by Hon. Adedeji Dhikrullahi Olajide, with the utmost attention to detail, reflecting the Olajide family’s commitment to excellence.
The Muslim community in Ibadan, which is the direct beneficiary of the gesture, while speaking at the foundation laying ceremony, praised Hon. Olajide’s benevolence and dedication to the tenets of Islam, describing the Jumat mosque project as a “monumental tribute” to the late father of the federal lawmaker.
The construction of the mosque is currently underway, with a projected completion date set for later this year and will be officially opened with a special Jumat service, which will be attended by the Chief Imam of Ibadanland, Sheik Abdul-Ganiyu Agbotomokere, Islamic religious leaders, dignitaries, community leaders and members of the Olajide family.
