In adherence to the rule of law, Osun State Government has postponed until further notice the formal presentation of staff of office and instrument of appointment to Oba Muritala Oyelakin, the newly appointed Aree of Iree .
In a statement in Osogbo, the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Mr. Kolapo Alimi urged the monarch and the people of Iree to remain calm and law abiding in spite of yesterday’s court order.
Mr Alimi who noted that the court order came up when all the arrangements for the coronation ceremony which is slated for today had been completed, emphasized that Oba Oyelakin remains the substantive Aree of Iree, as approved on 6th March,2024 by Governor Ademola Adeleke led Osun State Executive Council.
He maintained that, the interim Order obtained via Exparte Application, has not in anyway nullified the appointment of Oba Muritala Oyelakin as the Aree of Iree.
Mr Alimi stressed that Osun State Government and Oba Muritala Oyelakin were not in court when the order was sought for and granted by the Court.
The commissioner added that the status quo remains as the presentation of staff and instrument of appointment that ought to be held today, is mere ceremonial and does not in anyway invalidate the earlier approval granted Oba Oyelakin as the substantive Aree of Iree Town.
