Among the 36 states that make up the federation, Oyo state has won the prize for having the most Information Technology (IT) compliance.
This followed Oyo state’s ranking as Nigeria’s most IT-compliant state at the current Digital Nigeria 2022 event, which is being hosted by the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA).
The Director-General of the Oyo State Liaison Office, Abuja and Lagos Mr Wale Ajani accepted the award on behalf of Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde Wednesday night in Abuja.
Governor Makinde received the honor from the federal government through Professor Isa Ali Pantami, who is the honorable Minister of Communications and Digital Economy.
Ajani, who confirmed the story to newsarena.ng said that the Federal Government of Nigeria has just recognized Makinde’s investment in the Information Communication Technology (ICT) sector as the finest in the nation.
No one in Oyo state will make noise to criticize Governor Makinde’s record-breaking accomplishments in the ICT industry as a driver of economic progress.
“The award is a testament that regardless what the detractors think or say or are even saying in Oyo state, the state government under the leadership of Governor Makinde is not only getting things rightly but also aligning with the agenda of the government of the federation in term of digital economy.
“It is often said that ICT is the new global oil and goldmine and with what has happened tonight I can tell you that Governor Seyi Makinde has already strategically positioned Oyo state to fully key into the global digital economy for maximum gains.
“This is just to confirm what has happened tonight right here in Abuja, I’ll keep you posted as more developments unfold.” Ajani said.
The 10th annual National Council on Communications and Digital Economy will be held in Oyo State from December 5–9, 2022, according to the Governor’s assistant.
