Family Announces Burial Arrangements For Pa Akinkunmi, Designer Of Nigerian Flag

The arrangement for the funeral ceremonies for Nigerian national flag designer, Pa Michael Akinkunmi Taiwo has been made public by his family.

At the age of 83, the late Pa Akinkunmi departed from this life on August 29, 2023.

His son Akinwumi Akinkunmi published a statement in which the family thanked everyone who helped them during their time of grief.

“We thank the Federal Government for sending the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Hon Idris Mohammed, to pay condolence to the family when the incident happened,” the family said.

The family also appreciated the support of Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, saying, “The governor did not renege on his promise to support the family in giving the patriarch a befitting burial.”

They also thanked members of the 7th Oyo State House of Assembly, the Chairman, Oyo State Advisory Council, Chief Bolaji Ayorinde SAN, and members of the council for standing by the family.

According to the late Akinkunmi’s son, the burial programme is scheduled to hold from Wednesday, September 4th, to Friday, September 6th, 2024.

The family however requested that the Nigerian Flag be flown at half-mast during the burial period to give the departed Pa Akinkunmi his last respects.

“It would be much appreciated if the Nigerian Flag can be flown at half mast to give Pa Michael Taiwo Akinkunmi this last respect,” the statement added.
