Thirty-one alleged armed robbers, kidnappers, killers, and serial fraudsters have been arrested by the Ondo State Police Command in connection with recent crimes in the state.
Oniku of Iku-Ikare Akoko, High Chief Muakila Bello, and three other traditional leaders were recently kidnapped on Owo-Ikare road, according to the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Oyeyemi Oyediran, who was quoting the suspects.
Four of the kidnappers were also recently caught abducting three other traditional leaders.
This made the Ondo State Anti-Kidnapping Squad and the Oyo State Police Command sprang into action, according to the Police Commissioner. This resulted in the arrest of the suspects in Ibadan, while a 20-year-old boy named Abubakar Dangy, who typically provided kidnappers with guns for operations, was apprehended in Owo.
Mr. Oyediran said that the accused, who had one of their victims identify them, demanded a four million naira ransom before releasing the traditional head and other abductees.
