Emir Of Kano Visits Awujale of Ijebu Land, Seeks Synergy Among Traditional Rulers

The Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado-Bayero has called for synergy among Traditional Rulers in Nigeria, in the bid to foster national peace, unity and development.

Alhaji Ado-Bayero made the call when he led officials of the Kano Emirate Council, to the Ijebu – Ode palace of the Awujale of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Adetona, to pay homage and felicitate with the monarch on his ninetieth birthday and sixty-fourth coronation Anniversary.

The Emir who described the traditional institution as the closest form of administration to the people and a platform for building bridges to connect different parts of the country, urged the monarchs to continue to mobilize support for ensuring good governance.

“He is a royal father with a difference and whose reign has no doubt been a blessing not only to Ijebu land but Nigeria as a whole. Certainly, Kano and Ijebuland share the same similarities in terms of the people being business-oriented. Both Kano and Ijebu are known for commerce and our relationships are dated back in the years”, Alhaji Ado-Bayero stated.

“When I became the emir of kano about 4 years ago, I went round virtually all the states of the federation . This visit is a continuation of what have been doing but this is very special, I Hope my visit will continue to breach the gap . Am here in May and I hope to be back in August”, the Kano Monarch remarked.

Alhaji Ado-Bayero congratulated the Awujale on his birthday and coronation Anniversaries, describing the nonagenerian as a father that many traditional rulers in the Country would continue to tap from his wealth of experience.

In a remark, the Awujale of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Adetona acknowledged that the late father of the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Abdullahi Ado-Bayero was a bossom friend and applauded the visitors, while renewing his commitment to protecting and providing guidance to the National Council of Traditional Rulers of Nigeria.

Governor Dapo Abiodun, represented by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftancy Affairs, Mr Ganiyu Hamzat who affirmed the contributions of the Awujale to the growth of the state traditional council, the education sector and other fields of endeavor, also prayed God to grant him more grace on the throne.

Members of the Ijebu traditional council including the Orimolusi of Ijebu-Igbo, Oba Lawrence Adebayo, the Ebumawe of Ago-Iwoye, Oba AbdulRasaq Adenugba, Fuji Maestro and the Olori Omo-Oba Akile-Ijebu, Wasiu Ayinde, the Onigegewura of Ijebuland, Chief Tunde Oladunjoye, as well as the former Senator representing Ogun Central, Dr Lanre Tejuosho witnessed the ceremony.
