A wild elephant has strayed into Innayin Community in Oyo State, killing one person and leaving another missing.

The Public Relations Officer of the Oyo State Police Command, DSP Olayinka Ayanlade, disclosed this in a statement made available to newsmen.

He said the incident occurred at about 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, prompting an emergency response by police officers working with local vigilantes and hunters.

The officers later found the body of 45-year-old Ibrahim Tijani in a nearby bush with injuries linked to an animal attack.
They moved his remains to the General Hospital, Iwere-Ile for examination and preservation.
DSP Ayanlade added that search teams are still looking for 50-year-old Alhaji Muhammadu Bingin, who reportedly went missing after encountering the same elephant.
The statement advised residents of Innayin and neighbouring communities to avoid the affected area and report any sighting of the animal to security agencies.
It also noted that the Command is working with the National Park Service Nigeria to manage the situation safely and prevent further casualties
