Attempts by three suspected kidnappers to carry out their sinister plan in Itesiwaju local government area of Oyo state has reportedly hit the rocks following the arrest of two of them in Otu, the local government headquarters.
Radio Nigeria gathered that their arrest by some members of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria, VGN last weekend was as a result of weeks of tracking and surveillance.
According to the Operation officer of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria, VGN, Oyo state command, Mr. Kola Olaoye the suspects were contacted by someone in Kebbi state who is said to be actively involved in kidnapping activities in Nigeria to perfect plans for the abduction of a popular figure in Itesiwaju local government area.
However, unknown to the suspects that they were being monitored by local Vigilantes with logistic support from the Department of State Services, DSS, they were picked up at their hotel hide out before their plan could be hatched.
Phones recovered from the suspects reportedly revealed stage by stage discussion about the aborted plan especially their requests for additional guns and bullets to execute the abduction.
While confirming the arrest and subsequent handing over of the suspects to the DSS in Itesiwaju local government, Commander, Vigilante Group of Nigeria, VGN, Oyo state command, Comrade Sunday Olajide commended the improved synergy between his men and the DSS, saying it played a big role in the successful arrest.
