Lack of Unity and good leadership have been identified as factors hindering the growth of Yorubaland.
Professor of plant science, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife, Oluyemisi Akinyemiju Stated this during the Launch of Egbe Ilosiwaju Ile Yoruba at the Wole Soyinka Hall, University of Ibadan.
Professor Akinyemiju who was a guest lecturer at the event noted that outstanding virtues such as accountability, Zealousness, truthfulness and Vibrancy were required by a bonafide Yoruba leader to reposition the region as well as rescue it from its numerous challenges.
He called on leaders from the region to learn from the leadership style of the late sage, Chief Obafemi Awolowo to scale through the hurdles affecting the development of southwest region.
Earlier in an address of welcome, the Convener of Egbe Ilosiwaju Ile Yoruba, Dr Wumi Babalola who decried hardship faced by Yoruba citizens in the southwest advocated for true regionalism to Fast Track development.
In a remark, Chief Imam Of Yoruba Land Africa Zone Sheik Abdulrahim Adurangba called for peaceful co-existence, love and unity among people of the yoruba race.
