Dignitaries Attend Iwo Progressive Group Day As Adeleke Promises To Complete Oyo-Gbongan Rd.

Osun state governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke has promised to complete Oyo-Gbongan road project for the betterment of travellers and to enhance easy way of doing business.

Senator Ademola Adeleke disclose this while speaking at Iwo Progressive Group Day 2024 held in Iwo, Osun state.

The governor who was represented by the commissioner for water resource, Hon. Sunday Oroniyi said his administration is always interested in the interest of Osun state residents.

Governor Ademola Adeleke said frantic efforts are on to ensure timely completion of the road .

The governor said politics in Osun state and Nigeria should not be practised with bitterness and acrimony, but rather be in love and unity. He noted that the the project was not politically motivated but for the interest of Osun state residents.

He described Iwo Progressive Group as a veritable tool to promote politics in Osun state.

The governor assured the residents of Iwo town that his love for them and the town is undying.

Speaking, the president Iwo Progressive Group, Agba Akin Tayo Giwa lauded the effort of the Osun state government under the leadership of governor Adeleke for the ongoing road project, calling on the governor to speedy up work on the project.

Agba Akin Tayo maintained that for politics to thrive in Iwo , Osun and Nigeria, there was need for Nigerian politicians to work together in love and unity that will make the country great. He said .IPG has graciously given scholarship to selected students who are indigenes of Iwo in secondary schools and higher institutions.

Speaking on the topic ” Politics without bitterness: a panacea for the development of Iwo”, the guest speaker, Dr. Lekan Asifat, who is also a retired executive secretary, Osun state civil service said politicians who destroy each other do so because they lack the ethics of politics and its true meaning

“The fact that someone loses an election should not make such a person develop hatred and bitterness towards political opponents. A true politician should constantly allow ethics in politics to guide his words and actions”

“Politics should be regarded as profession and not a do or die affair. Iwo people should embrace unity and love and shun politics of bitterness” Dr. Asifat said.

Dr. Asifat who drew references from Hellen Keller opined that if politicians in Iwo can embrace politics without acrimony and bitterness, Iwo town will develop in all ramifications.

Dignataries at the Iwo Progressive Group Day 2024 were the former secretaries to the past Osun state governor, Alhaji Fatai Akinbade, representative of Oluwo of Iwo land, Oba Abdulrasheed Akanbi, representative of of Olopo of Olupona, senator Lere Oriolowo, legal luminaries, Rector Federal Polytechnic, Ayede Ogbomoso, Engr Dr. Taofeek Adekunle Abdul-Hameed and notable indigenes of Iwo among others.

Some notable Iwo indigenes who have contributed in no small values to the development of Iwo were recognized with various awards among whom were the former secretaries to the past Osun state governors Alhaji Olalekan Adeoti, Alhaji Ademola Adio, Rtd Justice Dejo Akanbi among others
