An Iyagunku Chief Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan has adjourned till Sept. 29, for mention on a case of two bank staff and four others who alledgedly planned a foil robbery on banks in Ibadan.
The court however ordered that the suspects be remanded in Abolongo correctional facility, Oyo pending the advice of the Oyo State Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP)
The defendants are: Mayowa Kehinde, 29; Abass Aderoju, 41; Akeem Adeniyi, 37; Abass Azeez, 42; Ridwan Eniola, 33; and Mistura Akinrinade, a female, 33.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the six suspects were arrested by the police who foiled their alleged planned to attack Fidelity Bank, Mokola branch, Ibadan.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr Emmanuel Idowu who denied plea of the defendants due to lack of jurisdiction, on Monday said the suspects were charged on five counts bordering on conspiracy and armed robbery.
Prosecution Counsel, Police Inspector. Iyabo Oladoyin, told the court that “the defendants were arrested at an hideout at Agara Odo-Ona along Akala Expressway, Ibadan, on Monday, June 13, at about 9: 00 p.m.”
He alleged that they were concluding plans to carry out robbery attack on another new generation bank within the metropolis.
