Oyo State Government has restated its resolve to ensure that the result of the 2023 Census reflects the reality for better development of the state.
Governor Seyi Makinde stated this while flagging off Training for National Population Commission Principal personnel for the 2023 Census, Zone1, comprising Lagos, Ogun and Oyo States.
Represented by the state Commissioner for Budget and Planning, Professor Musibau Babatunde, Governor Makinde noted that the state Government had started Sensitization of grassroots dwellers on the coming Population and Housing census holding April next year.
He urged residents of the state to cooperate with NPC officials during the exercise to get the best census result in Oyo State.
In his address of welcome, Federal Commissioner NPC in Oyo State, Dr Eyitayo Oyetunji said the Commission was making effort to build confidence in Nigerians that the first digitized census ever, would be credible and reliable.
Dr Oyetunji who stressed that the ad-hoc personnel must be well equipped, further explained that it would be difficult to manipulate the 2023 census as data gathered on the field would be streamed online.
On her part, Federal Commissioner NPC Ogun State, Mrs Oluseyi Aderinokun, while appreciating the Calibre of facilitators urged them to put their experiences and training to work for the commission to achieve its objectives for the census.
The training of Principal officers will last for ten days.
