Community Hails Family Counselling Centre Over Free Medical Outreach

Residents of Orin Àpáta One and it’s Environs in Lagelu Local Government Area of Oyo State have commended Family Counselling Centre, CBO, under Network of people living with HIV/AIDS in Nigeria, NEPWHAN, Oyo Chapter, for providing free services at it’s Medical Outreach in the area.

CBO also embarked on Gender Based Violence and intimate partner violence awareness campaign in the community.

Former Chairman of Orin Àpáta One Community, Mr Micheal Owolabi who gave the Commendation in Ibadan explained that lack of health Care Facilities has over the years responsible various levels of health complications experienced before patients could get to Adeoyo General hospital, which he said was far to the community

While appreciating CBO for the gestures, Mr Owolabi noted that when some emergency health cases arise, especially women who want to put to bed, they visited the private hospitals, which were expensive for them to bear.

Another community leader, Reverend Emmanuel Ayodele who also appreciated CBO for the Outreach, lamented that for years, the community had been neglected in accessing medical care service, urging government to come to their aids for them to benefit more dividends of democracy.

Reacting, The State Program Officer of NEPWHAN in Oyo State, Mr Adebiyi Oluseun explained that the Medical Outreach was one of the project NEPWHAN embarked on, to ensure that communities are coordinated and to strengthen the Health system for efficient service delivery.

Mr Adebiyi noted that some of the community have been yearning for such initiative in the community.

In the same vein, Mrs Ogunkunle, the Executive Director of Family Counselling Centre of the CBO working in Lagelu and the organizer of the Outreach pointed out that aside from the conduct of HIV test., Malaria and High blood pressure, there was also sensitazation against Gender Base Violence and domestic violence in the society.
