Cellop Alumni ‘Meet And Greet’ Initiative Pushs For Affordable Energy, Job Creation

Founder of CELLOP and CEO of ThinkBikes, Mr. Tolulope Olukokun has hosted the CELLOP Alumni Meet and Greet, where the urgent need to make energy more affordable and accessible was reiterated.
Participants at the event reflected on lessons from previous cohorts and unveiled fresh ideas aimed at driving employment and innovation.
The event, which drew participants from the University of Ibadan, National Open University of Nigeria, and various sectors including agribusiness, trade, and the civil service, served as both a reunion and a platform for knowledge exchange.
The CELLOP initiative, focused on promoting accessible and affordable energy solutions, is expected to continue to foster innovation while equipping participants with the skills needed to address energy challenges and drive economic growth.
Discussions at the event centered on how alumni have applied skills acquired during the programme to impact society, particularly in the area of sustainable energy solutions, especially through the development and application of battery cells.
Several participants shared practical experiences, highlighting how hands-on training has enabled them to initiate small-scale projects and explore new business opportunities in battery cell production and energy solutions.
A key highlight of the meeting was the presentation of emerging innovations designed to create employment and expand access to energy, with a strong focus on battery cells technology.
Mr. Tolulope Olukokun also noted that these initiatives, once fully implemented, could open up new job opportunities, especially for young people.
The session also featured exhibitions showcasing different projects developed by participants, including various battery cells prototypes, alongside an interactive question-and-answer segment that allowed attendees to deepen their understanding and refine their ideas.
Speaking during the event, Mr. Tolulope Olukokun emphasized that participants had already been equipped with essential tools and practical knowledge needed to succeed, but warned about the risks associated with advanced battery cells development.
“Most of the things needed for your training have been handed over to you. However, when it comes to the advanced stages, we place strong emphasis on safety and troubleshooting.
“Battery cells building is not something to be taken lightly; it can lead to serious disasters if not handled properly,” he said.
The emphasis on safety, particularly in battery cells construction, was a recurring theme throughout the meeting, with experts urging participants to priorities best practices as they scale their innovations.
