Boxing Day: AGC Apata Pimped Mokola Second Time In A Row

Men’s ministry, Assemblies of God church ,Apata Section has extended its dominance over its counterpart from Mokola in its annual novelty football match.

Apata Men again walloped Mokola two-nill, to consolidate on the 3 -1 victory recorded in the edition decided on 26th December 2022.

Speaking at the end of the friendly encounter, Reverend Emmanuel Olubiyi of Assemblies of God Church Apata said it was a nice outing for the two churches as they had an opportunity to interact and reflect on the season as a body of Christ.

Expressing gladness over the victory secured by the church,Rev Olubiyi said a gathering like that created opportunities to spread the gospel.

“ It is a very good outing and I am happy because I have been able to distribute tracts to those who have come to watch the match.Next year by the grace of God , we are going to extend this hand of fellowship to other churches “He noted.

On his part, Reverend John Obasi of Mokola church explained that it was a great opportunity for the men to come together and have time together after a stressful year .

He expressed confidence that Mokola church would be better and stronger next year.

Participants including Mr Ezekiah Afolabi who lauded the initiative advocated the need for such program to be extended to the entire district, saying it could assist the Christian body to focus more on the eternal goal.

Head ,paramedic team, Apata session,A retired Matron at University College Hospital,Uch, Mrs Bodunde Ajetomobi while stressing the importance of exercising to the body said such activity would keep body and soul together and promote individual fitness.

Mrs Ajetomobi also advised that people with underlying health conditions may be exempted from rigorous sporting activities like football .

“It is necessary to make sure that you are fit before getting involved in physical games like football.I also encourage people to do regular medical checks for sound health”Ajetomobi submitted.

The annual novelty football match which started in 2021 was conceived by Members of AGC Apata Men ministry to be played every 26th of December.

The aim is to bring people together and to attract some who have left the church back to the fold .

In attendance at Bembo Games Village Apata, venue of the event were men, women and children from Assemblies of God Church among other visitors.
