BIZZARE: Attempt To Secure Food Palliatives Lands Many Into Fraudsters’ Trap.

Hundreds of hungry residents in Oyo town have unknowingly played into the hands of suspected fraudsters pretending to be doling out food items for a token.

The suspected scammers reportedly hired a shop space located inside a fuel filling station at Mabolaje area where they allegedly carried out their nefarious activities since the middle of January, 2024 before they finally disappeared on Wednesday.

It was gathered that the sum of forty thousand naira deposit was alledgedly collected each from many unsuspecting residents in order to qualify for a package of food palliatives comprising a bag of rice, cooking oil, spaghetti and other sundry items.

Though many paid in multiples that ran into millions and were expected to collect their packages on Wednesday only to find an empty locked office and dead phone lines.

Affected people did not grant interview but they were seen lamenting their ordeals

The incident is now the talk of the town with some people raining curses on the suspected scammers for exploiting hungry situation while others blame victims for the sad incident, for allowing the prevailing high cost of food items to blindfold them from reasoning.
