A middle aged man has been beaten to death by a mob in Osogbo, Osun State for allegedly stealing a motorcycle.
The suspect, whose identity was not known was caught red handed riding away a Bajaj motorcycle at a filling station at Oke-Baale Area yesternight.
A witness, who did not want his name mentioned told newsmen that the owner of the bike, along side other motorists and motorcyclists had besieged a filling station around half past seven in the evening to purchase fuel.
He said the suspect allegedly took advantage of the rush due to the scarcity of petrol to commit the crime but fortunately, the owner of the motorcyclist saw him and raised alarm.
According to him, the suspect who was given a hot chase by some motorcyclists eventually abandoned the motorcycle and ran into a bridge close to the petrol station where he was attacked and beaten to a pulp by the angry crowd.
The suspect was said to have passed away by the time some policemen arrived the scene.
As at the time of filing this report, the Osun State Police command Public Relations Officer, Mrs Yemisi Opalola could not be reached.
