Members of the Akuru family of Agbeni, Ibadan, have paid a solidarity visit to their son, Hon. Adedeji Dhikrullahi Olajide Odidiomo, commending his stewardship in public office and expressing support for his aspiration to represent Oyo south senatorial district in the senate.
The family members, including strategic family heads and representatives of the Olajide family, visited Odidiomo as part of efforts to identify with him and encourage him ahead of the 2027 general election.

The family gathering provided an opportunity for the lawmaker to render an account of his years of public service and to formally present his senatorial aspiration to members of his extended family.

In his welcome address, Hon. Adedeji Olajide Odidiomo thanked the family members for the visit and the confidence expressed in him. He used the occasion to give an account of his stewardship, describing the last seven years of his public service as eventful and filled with opportunities to impact lives and contribute to community development.
According to him, his guiding principle throughout his years in public office has been about service to the people. “In the last seven years, we have been able to impact lives positively. To the best of my ability, I have served diligently and I have not disappointed,” he declared.
Odidiomo said his understanding of political office is of responsibility and service rather than personal ambition, adding that every opportunity entrusted to him has been treated as a mandate to make a difference in the lives of the people.
He noted that his experience in the House of Representatives had provided him with opportunities to engage directly with constituents and contribute to interventions in areas including education, technology, youth empowerment and community development.
The lawmaker also formally informed the family of his transition into the next phase of his political career.
He said to the glory of God, his political party, the Allied Peoples’ Movement, has given him the mandate to contest for the Senate, representing Oyo south senatorial district in the 2027 general election.
“I am also glad to formally inform you that, to the glory of God, I have been given the mandate to proceed to a higher office.
“My political party, the Allied Peoples’ Movement, has given me the mandate to run for the senate of Oyo south senatorial district,” he told the gathering.
Speaking earlier on behalf of the family, Alh. Muda Olajide commended Hon. Olajide Odidiomo for what they described as his commitment to public service and his ability to represent the family positively in public life.
They said his years in public office have brought pride to the family, describing him as “a true son of the family” who had remained conscious of his roots despite his growing political responsibilities.
According to them, Odidiomo had demonstrated that he understood the responsibility that came with being a representative of the people, adding that the family was particularly proud that he has not disappointed them. “You have been a good ambassador of this family. You are a true son of the family. You have represented us well and you have not disappointed us,” the family heads told him.
They said the visit was not merely ceremonial but an expression of solidarity with one of their own as he seeks to move from the House of Representatives to the senate. The family also pledged to remain supportive of Odidiomo and his political aspiration, while urging him to continue to uphold the values of service and commitment to his people.
