Agribusiness: 100 Oyo YEAP Beneficiaries Get Enterprise Support

Beneficiaries of the Youth Entrepreneurship in Agribusiness (YEAP) program have been enrolled by the Oyo State Agribusiness Development Agency (OYSADA) in the crop producing industry.

These young people were among the 3,300 beneficiaries who received training at CSS Farms in Nasarawa State last year, according to a statement made by the honorable commissioner for information, culture, and tourism, Dr. Wasiu Olatubosun, on Sunday, July 31, 2022.

“For these beneficiaries, the onboarding and orientation signified the start of the second part of the programme.”

The Director-General of OYSADA, Dr. Debo Akande, hinted that each of the 100 beneficiaries would receive land allocations at the Fasola Agribusiness Industrial Hub for crop production, according to Hon. Olatubosun.

The teenagers were taken to the designated land, where land preparation is in progress, as part of their orientation.

The young people will receive inputs when they start cultivating the land and growing crops. OYSADA will also provide them with technical and agricultural extension assistance.

Dr. Akande also use the occasion to implore other YEAP recipients to have patience with the Oyo State Government while officials work diligently to guarantee that other recipients receive the assistance they require.

Prior to this, he claimed that the Oyo State Government had provided enterprise support to roughly 120 individuals, and that when money becomes available, more people will be given more power.

The Director General further emphasized that the Oyo State Government’s strategy of providing these youths with hands-on training is preferable to handing out money and freebies to people who won’t do anything to help the economy flourish.

He thanked the young people who were already improving their existing enterprises with the knowledge they had learned throughout the training and pushed those who weren’t doing it yet to follow their lead.
