An earthquake has killed at over nine hundred people in Afghanistan while hundreds of people, including children and women were injured in the disaster.
According to report, hundreds of houses were destroyed and the death toll was likely to rise.
Taliban officials say rescue operations have begun with helicopters ferrying victims to hospitals in the remote areas.
Deputy minister for disaster management, Sharafuddin Muslim told journalists that at least 920 people had been killed and a further 600 injured, making it Afghanistan’s deadliest earthquake in two decades.
Pictures from the site also showed landslides and ruined mud-built homes in eastern Paktika province, where rescuers have been scrambling to treat the injured.
