The administration of Governor Seyi Makinde has officially handed over different modern medical equipment to the Ring Road State Hospital, Adeoyo, Ibadan.

The presentation ceremony, which took place on May 27, 2025, marked another milestone in the state government’s effort to transform secondary health facilities into centres of medical excellence.

Speaking at the event on behalf of the Governor, the Executive Assistant on Administration, Reverend Idowu Ogedengbe, explained that the equipment donation aligns with Governor Makinde’s vision of upgrading specialist hospitals like Adeoyo to the standard of University Teaching Hospitals.

“In line with His Excellency’s vision to elevate specialist hospitals to meet the standards of institutions like UCH, we are here today to officially hand over 31 different pieces of medical equipment to the management of Ring Road State Hospital, Adeoyo,” Ogedengbe stated.

The procurement was initiated following an earlier assessment of the hospital in preparation for the December 2024 medical outreach by the Christ Compassion to the Rural World (CCRW).

At that time, inadequate facilities prevented the hospital from being used for surgical procedures during the outreach.

Ogedengbe said that Governor Makinde, has however, deemed it expedient to ensure the hospital is adequately equipped for future collaborations with medical partners, corporate organizations, and religious groups.

“These new facilities will not only support such future partnerships but also position Ring Road State Hospital as a centre for surgical excellence and comprehensive medical services for the people of Oyo State,” he added.

Highlighting the hospital’s significance, he cited Africa Research Connect, which noted that “Ring Road State Hospital, Ibadan serves as a pivotal healthcare institution, contributing to various studies that explore critical health challenges, including mental health, geriatric care, and public health concerns.”

While stressing the durability and modernity of the procured items, Ogedengbe also charged the hospital’s management with maintaining the new equipment effectively and ensuring that they’re well put to effective use.
