Accord Nat’l Leadership Inaugurates Caretaker Committee In Oyo

The National leadership of Accord has inaugurated a five man Caretaker Committee to oversee the affairs of the party in oyo state pending when the State Congress Elections would be held.

This Follows the recent sack of Prince Kolade Ojo led State Executive Council of the party , due to their open endorsement of Governor Seyi Makinde of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), as its preferred governorship candidate against the party’s candidate Chief Adebayo Adelabu for Saturday’s election.

The inaugurated committee include: Alhaji Isiaka Salami (Chairman); Mr. Bashiru Ayobami (Secretary); Mr. Fatai Salawu (member); Mrs Bimpe Martins (member) and Mr. Ayodele Oyajide (member).

Inaugurating the caretaker committee, the National Chairman, Alhaji Mohammad Nalado who was represented by the National Legal Adviser, Maxwell Ngbudem and the National Vice Chairman Southwest, Alhaji Dokun Babarinde condemned the action of the sacked excos noting that the party is known for its integrity and oneness of mission.

Alhaji Nalado who spoke through the National Legal Adviser of the party, Barrister Maxwell Ngbudem, charged the members to go across the state and inform the people that Accord has not stepped down its candidacy for the governorship position or any of the members of the House of Assembly.

In his address, the governorship candidate of Accord in Oyo state, chief Adebayo Adelabu, commended the national leadership of the party for the promptness and quick intervention of denouncing the move and the sack of the affected executive members.

He said it was disheartening that after the party candidates had spent so much money to campaign and mobilise for the election, the Bola Tinubu tsunami made them lost at the Presidential and National Assembly elections.

“There are a number of reasons that we lost the presidential and National Assembly elections due to Asiwaju’s tsunami. No candidate campaigned more than our candidates for the National Assembly positions.”

“Vote cast was for Asiwaju, not APC. It was for Atiku not PDP. And for Obi, not LP. It was about individuals and not party. ”

“The forthcoming governorship election too would be about individuals and not party. We have spent over N3billion by all our candidates put together since we joined the party till date. What the sacked excos did amount to betrayal and backstabbing. It is not unexpected but we could not tolerate.”

In his acceptance speech, the caretaker Committee Chairman, Alhaji Isiaka Salami pledged loyalty of the newly constituted executives to the national leadership, members of the party and all the candidates in the State.
