Owo Funeral: Sympathizers Wail As Remains Of Victims Laid To Rest

Sympathizers, passers-by, families, friends, government functionaries and clergymen on Friday attended the funeral mass in honour of victims of the Owo church terrorist attack which led to the death of over forty worshippers and many wounded

Newsarena.ng report that sympathizers were in uncontrollable tears as caskets bearing the bodies of the deceased including a police man and children were brought in to the venue of the burial service.

Catholic Bishop of Ondo diocese , Most Reverend Jude Arogundade while speaking in a sermon during the burial service for victims of St Francis catholic Church terrorist attack in Owo, Ondo state, appealed to the federal government to intensify its efforts at ending the spate of insecurity in the country.

Most Reverend Jude Arogundade in an emotional laden voice said level of killings in the country was worrisome, calling on the federal government to the yearnings of Nigerians on the creation of state police.

He commended governor Rotimi Akeredolu for the Ondo State government’s willingness to provide befitting burial and a burial site for the deceased.

Addressing the crowd, Governor Akeredolu advocated the rejigging of the country’s security architecture, disclosing that seventy victims were still receiving treatment at various hospitals while some had already been buried by their loved ones.

Dignitaries at the mass burial included the former governor of Ondo state, Dr Olusegun Mimiko and Bishop of Sokoto diocese Most Rev Father Mathew Kukah.
