The principal , Ibadan Boys high School , Dr Abdul Rasheed Fasasi has stated reasons Alumni associations should market their alma mater in order to make it a modern day school.
Dr Fasasi said many public schools which serve as alma mater of many today have lost many of their students to private schools because they were not well marketed .
He said this during the Annual Reunion and Award presentation of the Ansarudeen Nursery and Primary School Old students Association, ADSNPSOSA, Oke Ado , Ibadan on Saturday.
Dr Fasasi who was the guest lecturer at the event added that getting students into public schools would not have been difficult if there is enough packaging of the schools.
Adding that alumni associations as ambassadors of their Alma mater must have business model for their schools and as well have a developmental plan for the growth of the school.
He further stated that alumni should embark on projects such as career talks for current students of the school, make provisions for holiday work experience for students, fund facilities in the school, sponsor examination fees adding that government cannot fund education alone.
While the event also witnessed the presentation of award to people including a former Headmaster of the school, Mr Shehu Umar and current Headmistress of the school ,Riskat Oyebamiji .
Speaking with Nigerian Tribune ,Chairman, ADSNPSOSA, Prince Ridwan Olatunji explained that awardee were being celebrated because of their impact in the lives of the students.
He added that the awardee were also celebrated having known that primary school is the bedrock foundation of education.
