Flamingos Win Bronze In 2022 Women’s World Cup

After defeating Germany, Nigeria’s Flamingoes earned the bronze medal at the 2022 World Cup Under-17 in India.

Before ultimately losing on penalties, German women’s football players staged one of the best comebacks in history.

The Germans battled back from a 3-0 deficit to tie the Flamingos 3-3 before losing 3-2 in the shootouts.

The Flamingos made a strong start to the game, but it took them until the 20th minute for Opeyemi Ajakaye to score their first goal.

Before Etim scored the third goal for the Flamingos in the 63rd minute, Aminat Bello scored the second goal for the Flamingos in the 48th minute.

Jella Veit scored Germany’s equalizer in the 73rd minute, and Paulina added a second before Loreen Bender restored parity at the very end to force penalties.

Coach Olowookere and his side entered this encounter against Germany as wounded lions after suffering a heartbreaking loss to Colombia in the semifinals.
