‘Odidiomo’ Rejoices With Makinde, Oyo Residents Over Safe Return Of Abducted Pupils, Teachers

Oyo south senatorial candidate of the Allied Peoples’ Movement (APM) and member representing Ibadan North-west/Ibadan South-west federal constituency of Oyo state in the House of Representatives, Hon. Adedeji Dhikrullahi Stanley Olajide, has rejoiced with Governor Seyi Makinde and the people of Oyo state over the safe rescue of the pupils, teachers and other victims abducted in Orire Local Government Area, describing their return as a moment of great relief for families and the entire state.


In a statement made available to newsmen on friday evening by his Special Adviser, Media and Public Affairs, Tolu Mustapha, Olajide said the successful rescue of the abductees marked the end of weeks of anxiety, uncertainty and fervent prayers by parents, relatives, religious bodies and well meaning Nigerians who had continued to hope for their safe return.

The federal lawmaker commended Governor Makinde for providing leadership throughout the period of the unfortunate incident, noting that the commitment of the state government, in collaboration with security agencies, played a significant role in securing the freedom of the victims.

Olajide also applauded the gallantry, professionalism and determination displayed by the various security agencies and other stakeholders involved in the rescue operation, describing their efforts as a demonstration of courage, patriotism and dedication to the protection of lives and property.

He said the safe return of the children and their teachers should serve as a source of hope for Nigerians that effective collaboration and investment in security can produce positive outcomes even in the face of daunting security challenges.

According to him, “The news of the safe rescue of our children and their teachers has brought immense joy and relief to every well meaning resident of Oyo state. For several weeks, our thoughts and prayers remained with the victims and their families. Today, we join Governor Seyi Makinde and the entire people of our dear state in thanking almighty God for preserving their lives and granting them freedom.”

Olajide noted that the incident once again brought to fire the urgent need to continue strengthening Nigeria’s security architecture through proactive measures, improved intelligence gathering, community participation and support for security agencies.

He reiterated his support for ongoing efforts to decentralise policing through the creation of state police, maintaining that closer collaboration between communities and security institutions remains essential to tackling emerging security threats across the country.

While congratulating the rescued victims and their families, the lawmaker urged the state government to ensure that the children and teachers receive the necessary medical attention, counselling and psychosocial support to aid their recovery and smooth reintegration into normal life.

He also appealed to residents of Oyo state to remain vigilant, cooperate with security agencies by providing timely and credible information, and continue to promote peace, unity and mutual trust within their communities.
