Police Set Record Straight On Criminal Attack At Dredging Site In Ogun

The Ogun State Police Command has clarified that the security breach recorded at a private dredging site in Magbon Etido, Mowe, was an isolated criminal attack and not a bandit operation as alleged in a viral video circulating on social media.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Ogun State Command, Mr Oluseyi Babaseyi in a statement in Abeokuta said a soldier on security duty lost his life during the incident while another sustained injuries and is receiving treatment.

Mr Babaseyi stated that following the report, police operatives in collaboration with the military swiftly mobilised to the area and launched coordinated operations to track down those responsible.

He explained that preliminary investigations did not indicate any connection between the attack and banditry activities as being speculated in some quarters.
