Anambra State Governor, Professor Charles Soludo, has officially taken the oath of office for his second term.

The swearing-in ceremony took place on Tuesday at the newly renovated Alex Ekwueme Square in Awka, the state capital. Soludo was inaugurated alongside his deputy, Dr Onyeka Ibezim.

The event, held in Awka, Anambra State, drew the presence of several high-profile dignitaries, including Vice President Kashim Shettima, former presidents Goodluck Jonathan and Olusegun Obasanjo, among others. Also in attendance were former Commonwealth Secretary-General Emeka Anyaoku, Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, as well as other governors.

Soludo’s re-election followed his victory in the November 8, 2025 governorship election, as declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
He secured a total of 422,664 votes, defeating his closest challenger, Nicholas Ukachukwu of the All Progressives Congress, who garnered 99,445 votes. The candidate of the Young Progressives Party, Sir Paul Chukwuma, finished third with 37,753 votes.
INEC reported that 16 candidates contested in the election. Out of the 2,788,864 registered voters in the state, 598,229 were accredited. A total of 595,298 votes were cast, with 11,244 rejected votes recorded across the 21 local government areas.
According to the final results, Soludo of APGA achieved a sweeping victory, winning in all 21 local government areas of the state.
